Lessons from the Temple

One of the things I am most greatful for is the temple. I thought I would put together a short list of things that I have learned from the temple itself.
  • Its easier to communicate with God in sacred space
  • Symbols are a powerful tool of learning
  • God really would do anything to get us back
  • He will never leave us
  • God makes covenants with us, and expects us to keep our end of the deal
  • God is waiting to give us blessings just as soon as we are ready for them
  • Marriage is ordained of God, and it is through the blessings of this covenant that we can become most like Him
  • There are powerful powerful blessings waiting if married couples keep their covenant
  • We can live so Satan has no power over us
  • There is sharp sharp contrast between God and Satan
  • In order to progress in life, we need to enter into a relationship with Christ and move it from a mere acquaintence to a relationship where He would encircle us with the arms of His love
  • Christ's love for us is sure and unmoving
  • God had a plan from the beginning
  • Adam and Eve needed to learn the knowledge of good and evil from their own experience
  • Adam and Eve symbolize each of us
  • Life goes through stages
  • As we search for light and knowledge, God will give it to us
  • Families ARE forever
  • God has always called prophets
  • God sends us angels, even if we don't recognize it
  • We need to approach prayer in a more sacred way
  • We were with God before we were born
  • Delegation is an heavenly principle
  • We are all free to choose
  • Life is not as complicated as we make it
  • We only get blessings as we remember to keep our relationship with Christ active
  • Prayer is a powerful thing
  • It is not good for man to be alone
  • Do not go to the temple in a rush
  • The earth IS beautiful, and it was made for us
  • We need to take care of what we are given
  • Satan will hang around if we let him
  • Being nice is a helpful thing
  • A smile can go a long way
  • God gives us reminders of covenants we make
  • Truth, obedience, life, and discipleship are key
  • God reveals to us when sees fit, which is usually as soon as we are ready for it
  • Symbols reveal AND conceal
  • Symbols can often mean more than one thing
  • We need to make our homes more like the temple
  • God has declared His truth and His gospel from the beginning
  • God planned for the Fall
  • Adam and Eve took one for the team
  • Jesus Christ was the Savior from the beginning
  • Jesus is Creator, Savior, and Judge
  • The Creation, Fall, and Atonement are central doctrines of the gospel of Jesus Christ
  • There is no other way or name by which we can approach God than through Christ
  • The gospel is the covenants we make in the temple
  • Jesus loves the Father, and would do anything to show us that the Father loves us
Well, there are many more things I have learned from the temple. These I think will do for now.

  1. Perhaps Adam and Eve symbolize each of us? I think we girls can relate more to Eve, and she is more symbolic of our lives than Adam is...
